• In-place pipe coating: in some cases the plumbing system has a series of small leaks that would be too expensive and/or too inconvenient to dig up the slab. In-place epoxy pipe coating could be your best option.

Most home faucet installations used for baths, showers, sinks and basins provide separate hot and cold water valves. When they work, all is good, but when they fail... well... don't get us started.

HOW THE WORK

The first screw-down faucets were made in 1845. Many older faucets use a soft rubber or neoprene washer which is screwed down onto a valve seat in order to stop the flow. This is called a "globe valve" and, while it gives a leak-proof seal and solid adjustment of flow, both the rubber washer and the valve seat are subject to wear over time. It's just the nature of the product. Eventually, there's not a tight enough seal formed when the faucet is in the closed position. Thus, resulting in a leaking tap. The washer can be replaced and the valve seat resurfaced, but unfortunately globe valves are never maintenance-free. Most faucet handles on residential homes are connected to the valve shaft and fastened down with a screw. Like a majority of appliances in your life, faucets contain moving parts and they break and wear out over time.

You think it's your nose, so you ignore it. Then one day, you notice a slight discoloration by your baseboard moulding, perhaps the wall feels cold or even soft. Here’s how the process works:

Pre-filter

Larger particles, such as silt, rust and scale, are removed by the pre-filter. This extends the life of your system and allows the semi-permeable membrane to attack even smaller particles.

Membrane

At the center of the system, the Reverse Osmosis membrane allows hydrogen and oxygen to pass through its microscopic pores. Dissolved solids which are too small to have been caught by the pre-filter are removed from the water and flushed out and headed for the drain.

Final polish

Water flows from the membrane to a holding tank, which stores the clean water until you turn on your faucet and voila? Almost! Before the water dispenses through your faucet it flows through one more stage of filtration.
